9x me as a graphic designer
„For the "9x me as a graphic designer" exhibition, a presentation of nine female Czech graphic designers in the DOX centre of contemporary art, I asked nine graphic designers to each create a poster based around a common theme. The limiting element of the joint theme highlighted the individual differences of the different designers, but can a common element be found? I also wanted to support the designers themselves; I think their work is of a high standard, and inspirational to others. (I am the ninth designer) My thanks goes to the DOX art gallery.“
ÁÓÚ Erotic Sex Shop
„This is my project of a fictional Sex Shop, designed to change the way these shops are perceived and to somewhat suppress the taboos and shyness about the prospect of visiting them. The first and important element in the concept was the name of the shop; I didn't want to blatantly include the words "erotic" or "sex" in the logo. The resultant logo is composed of interjections of pleasure, arousal and satisfaction - it became the most cogent denotation or label of my sex shop. The applications are in their essence pleasurable; the screens that are made using the logo create varying symbols but always work with the logo brand.“

„The international film festival CINEMA MUNDI BRNO 2010 is a contemplative festival, displaying the best full-length movies of 2009 from about 60 countries over a course of seven days. Each national cinematography will be represented by only one ful-length film which was considered the best in 2009 by the film professionals of the respective country. My work for the film festival was designing the logo and the main poster.“

„When creating the new logo, I took the Ekofilm name as the basis of the design, choosing an approach that would work with the "EKO" sign itself. Various combinations of the EKO sign were created, which resulted in a pictogram of a flower that is at the same time the EKO sign.“

Věra Marešová
Grafický Design & Vizuální Komunikace
Věra Marešová studied the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. She specializes in corporate identity, and, since 2008, she has been a freelance graphic designer for Czech Television. In 2005, she won the Czech National Design Award for the logo and corporate identity for the City of Brno. She has also had commissions for the Ministry of Transport and the Ekofilm International Festival.
